Fin Foot Pocket Size Guide

Freediving foot pockets fit differently from regular shoes. Because they grip directly against the foot with no cushioning, most divers find that foot pockets run closer to their bare-foot EU size than everyday footwear. Use the brand-specific tables below to select your size, then read the fit-check and sock guidance before ordering.

Apnea Rubber Foot Pocket

The Apnea Rubber Foot Pocket uses a regular fit pull-on design with a 20Β° blade angle. Sizes are labelled in EU pairs. Wear barefoot or with a thin 1–2 mm sock for the best power transfer.

Fit Check β€” Apnea

  • Correct fit: Toes reach the end of the pocket but are not cramped. Heel sits flush with no gap.
  • Too small: Toes press hard against the toe box, causing discomfort on descent.
  • Too large: Heel lifts or foot slides forward, reducing blade efficiency.
  • Sock guidance: Designed for barefoot or thin sock (≀ 2 mm) use. If you regularly dive with a 3–5 mm wetsuit sock, size up by one full size pair (e.g. 40–41 β†’ 42–43).

Fit Check β€” Leaderfins Forza

  • Correct fit: Toes lie flat and relaxed at the end of the pocket. The stiff heel should cup the back of your foot firmly.
  • Too small: The rigid heel digs into the Achilles, and toes feel compressed β€” this will cause cramping during a dive.
  • Too large: Foot shifts inside the pocket under blade load, reducing response and causing heel blisters.
  • Sock guidance (manufacturer-stated): If you plan to wear 3–5 mm socks, order one full size pair larger than your bare-foot size. For example: bare-foot size 43–44 β†’ order 45–46 with socks. Note: size 45–46 is not currently stocked β€” contact us if you need this.

General Tips for All Foot Pockets

  • Measure your foot length in centimetres while standing. Match to the midpoint of each EU size range for the most reliable fit.
  • When between sizes, size up β€” foot pockets do not stretch significantly over time.
  • Thin neoprene socks (1–2 mm) are fine for most pockets without resizing. Thicker socks (3–5 mm) require sizing up as noted per brand above.
  • Break-in period: New rubber foot pockets are stiff. Soak in warm water for a few minutes before your first session to ease entry.
